It started as a small paper glossary, for my own use, to communicate with my non-French-speaking patients during night shifts.

Word got around that I had this little lexicon, and several colleagues would occasionally ask to borrow it.

On top of that, adding new terms and new languages kept breaking the layout. So I finally decided to compile all my data into an application, and to make it available to everyone, free of charge.

The app then travelled beyond the walls of the hospital and drew media attention, from the general press (Midi Libre), the medical press (Ordre des Médecins) and television (France 3). Mediglotte had passed 15,000 downloads (Apple & Google Play) before a major maintenance and update effort began in the summer of 2019. With the invaluable help of Guillaume, the new version is now available, with a new visual identity, new features and improved usability.
